The Barbie Diaries gets a lot of shit, but it's really not that bad. The plot is a pretty typical teen rom-com story: a trio of friends hate the evil, popular mean girls, the main character becomes popular and abandons her friends, and in the end she realises the errors of her ways, apologises and everyone dances. And as a character Barbie isn't inherently unlikeable, though she does make a couple of bad decisions, and I can't lie, I've always coveted her diary and charm bracelet, as well as the lip gloss highlighter. The only thing letting this film down is the fuckass animation. I know they used motion capture, but this shit is diabolical.
