The true story it’s based on is horrifying, but the film presents it in a brilliant way, turning it into something deeply disturbing and emotionally heavy. The film critiques the idea of the “perfect” Filipino family and the strict patriarchal values often associated with Catholicism and authority. The father appears disciplined, religious, and respectable, but behind that facade is total control and abuse. The film gradually reveals how fear, obedience, and silence can tear a family apart from the inside. The editing and pacing are remarkable, the tension keeps building until it becomes nearly unbearable. Highly recommended.
