Yet again logging a movie and realizing I have so many of the directors films in my watchlist… but this is my first Sion Sono movie & definitely not my last ! I love the unique twist this movie puts on body horror, I haven’t heard of anything like it! Makes me very inspired to search for more creativity like it :))
Honestly this was lowkey wholesome & cute besides the whole horror storyline… the outfits and hairstyles are soo adorable, I love the mix & match layering! I fell in love with Yûko and her journey and it made me feel so bittersweet ending the movie not knowing what would come next :,) I grew very fond of some of the characters in her life as well! I don’t have much experience with children characters in horror movies but I think Mami’s actress was superb in this performance (felt very maternal towards her ❤︎) !!
I’ve seen lots of photos of photos of Chiaki Kuriyama before due to her iconic role in Kill Bill, but this is the first movie I’ve seen of hers! Her haircut/style is so so beautiful and so far from what I’ve seen it seems to be similar to that in tons of her films!! I thought she was so great though and can’t wait to explore more of her work :>
