A Vietnam veteran, Charles Rane, returns home after years in a POW camp and is treated as a hero. He has a hard time adjusting, and things go badly. A movie about the walking dead, before that meant just flesh-eating zombies.

An interesting time capsule. Better in the first 30 minutes where it’s more about a traumatized Nam veteran trying to come home. Sinks into a revenge pic, but man the 70s pace and action just can’t hold a candle to the later decades.

The first 40 minutes were far more interesting than the rest of the movie. The stuff about POW vets being completely changed into cold killing machines was really interesting stuff to explore, I just wish the vengeance plot that it explored it through wasn't as by the numbers.

What if Death Wish was good and somehow WAY sadder. Also Tommy Lee Jones is in it looking younger than he should be allowed to look.
