Super Fly serves better as a window into the blaxploitation genre than as a piece of entertainment.
Most of this film was pretty mediocre with a few notable exceptions. The score from Curtis Mayfield is great and the character of Youngblood Priest is very very cool (and may have the best name I’ve ever heard)
As a whole, the gritty filmmaking style reminded me of The French Connection, but for a number of reasons I prefer the latter.
I think Truck Turner just set the bar too high.
