The premise is unique but sometimes, it doesn't work for me. It makes sense for this to be Damien Chazelle's earlier works as it feels a little experimental and grasping the idea of implementing music into film. Props to Elijah Wood for learning piano within three weeks as It's obvious how complex the piece is. Loved the score alot, it was portrayed as if it was a real concert. It was very innovative and interesting how the main character has to play a piece in order to unlock a key inside, thought that motive for holding him hostage was fascinating. I just found some of the characters stupid or have unrealistic dialogue. It was kinda weird how the main character kept getting threats from the antagonist holding him hostage but barely doing anything when breaks one of his commands. The amount times I hear "or else your wife dies", is repetitive and kinda annoying. It seemed too quick for the main character to realize that he was actually in danger, he could've thought that red dot was just a laser pointer but it convinced him from just that. Grand Piano is a suspenseful, boring, unique film that'll give pianists stage fright
