Lopushansky's second film focuses on a few hours in the life of a soloist musician during the siege of Leningrad, in WWII. The Leningrad philharmonic is going to play Tchaikovsky's 5th Symphony, which is to be broadcast to England. The soloist, like his fellow musicians, is weak and half-starved, and doubts whether he will be able to perform well enough.

Conistatin transcends the mere visual to evoke a metaphysical landscape a universe where the decay of the human spirit mirrors the collapse of all that we hold sacred Constantine’s realm perpetually in ruins is not simply an external setting but an intimate portrayal of inner desolation a visceral echo of the soul’s disintegration at its core the work unfurls like a elegy each scene a raw almost brutal testament to the ephemeral nature of human aspiration the crumbling facades and derelict structures serve as metaphors for our own internal erosion where dreams ideals and even the semblance of hope are inevitably worn away by time and suffering. Conistatin’s narrative voice is both melancholic and fiercely honest questioning the very essence of existence in a manner that resonates with our current ever-evolving zeitgeist its almost like the artist is throwing down a truth bomb no matter how much we try to reconstruct or reinvent ourselves theres always this underlying ruin a silent testament to the fragility of our being the desolation in Constantine’s world isnt just a backdrop its a dynamic living reflection of the perpetual struggle within the human soul In a way its a forward thinking reminder that within the decay lies a raw beauty and an invitation to rebuild from the fragments of our own pasts Thus Conistatin doesnt simply depict ruin he philosophically interrogates the essence of destruction and rebirth urging us to see the ruins not as an end but as a crucible for transformation a poignant timeless mirror reflecting the constant interplay between loss and the possibility of renewal
