I think this failed to capture the banter and affection that made the novel enjoyable, and that the narrator has the most annoying voice on the planet, and that they gave Chéri the shittiest bob on earth. I did love the aesthetics though.

High af when I watched this and when the priest started talking I thought he was speaking japanese.

I love how many reviews call Cheri a whiny little bitch but I found him pretty relatable.
He’s just an aimless brat who has no baseline concept for connection orher than the one person who enjoyed his true company. 
Its visually appealing… kind of grating in both delivery and narrative. 
Tom burke shows up which i got excited about. 
In fact, id have rated this higher if it had more tom burke and rupert friend lazing about in an opium den.
