Even if I hate most of these films, this documentary is really great and interesting. 

I find the effort that goes into making most films to be more interesting than a lot of films in and of themselves. 

The people behind these films seem really really cool, and learning about how films are made is always going to be my favorite thing ever. 

Wish they would’ve explained a few more things in depth, like, how some of the negative reception and box office flops affected each new entry, or even how they settled on the iconic hockey mask to be a series mainstay, but those are miner complaints.

Boy oh boy was this an absolutely insane watch. This is easily the LONGEST movie I have ever seen, clocking in at nearly SEVEN HOURS!!!!!! I don’t know why, but I watched the entire thing in one sitting like a mad man. I think I might finally be ready to watch Sátántangó which is seven hours and thirty minutes long. Anyway, let’s cut to the chase and talk about this documentary. Much like Never Sleep Again, which delved into the A Nightmare on Elm Street series, this film tackles every single Friday the 13th movie from the first one made in 1980 to the 2009 remake. It is super informative and has tons and tons of cool facts that I did not know. I loved hearing the cast and crew talk about how they made the gory scenes, how they came up with Jason, how some of them had near-death experiences, and how this entire franchise started because Sean S. Cunningham wanted to make a name for himself. It’s very interesting to me that the first movie was made since Cunningham came up with the title Friday the 13th and that his idea gradually became more fleshed out as they were making the movie. Cunningham said that they didn’t really care about the plot, they just knew that it was going to be about a bunch of teenagers getting killed by a murderer. Another interesting aspect was the fact that Jason wasn’t even supposed to be the villain until that crazy ending from the first movie. All throughout the movie, he was portrayed as the victim who drowned and Mrs. Voorhees was the vengeful killer. It’s all very fascinating and I just cannot get enough!!!! I feel that this was a lot better than His Name Was Jason, which was directed by the same guy who made this, since this one was split up into twelve segments for each Friday the 13th movie and offered SO MUCH MORE valuable information. The most interesting fact to me, however, was definitely the absolute horror the MPAA was to these movies. They cut SO MANY amazing gory scenes that could have elevated some of these films so much more. It’s quite a shame that some of those scenes never got to see the light of day and have subsequently been lost forever. All in all, if you love Friday the 13th, this is a must watch!!

Casi siete horazas de documental destripando los entresijos de la saga. Jo-der.

De momento me he visto solo la primera mitad, dosificando las cosas para dejar la segunda para mañana.

Completo, denso hasta casi lo obsesivo y muy interesante para quien sea fan de la saga, pero también para quien tenga curiosidad por saber de donde salieron algunas de las ideas de bombero de una de las sagas slasher más memorable y a la par infame.
