More split screen shots in cinema, please

The best thing about Sisters is being able to appreciate De Palma's talent and ingenuity in a film much simpler and smaller than anything he would do later. Honestly, it's fun as hell; it's intriguing, unpredictable, and incredibly entertaining.

Thanks to the editing and camerawork, the film manages to feel like a delirium, a madness, a dream that jolts you awake. Personally, I loved the split screen in that certain scene.

And well, the performances were superb. Not a single complaint; this movie was really cool.

when they said that de palma was similar to hitchcock they were NOT lying! this is so psychocore! and rear windowcore!!! this was a really unexpected love for me, it really really rocked. the mystery was stellar, the comedy was shockingly great, and that casting for the french canadian dude was genuinely impeccable

So so good. Watched the remake a couple years ago and it completely stripped the film of all the qualities that made it good in the first place so this was very refreshing. Loved the split screens.

Bottom-tier De Palma, but still better than so much of the slop that i regularly get tricked into watching! Still better on initial watch than The Untouchables, but that might just be a genre preference of mine. I love all the split screen, and you can’t make a BDP movie without some perversion or multi-media stuff that blurs the line between reality and simulation (the peeping tom game show into the real life double peeping tom plot). The brainwashing stuff is fun, and they had me from the moment Siamese twins were mentioned! Sure it isn’t Carrie or Carlito’s Way, but I had enough fun to pass along the recommendation to the right open-minded individuals!

An incredible horror film!

Margot Kidder is probably my favourite actress of all time, I think she’s absolutely amazing in everything that she’s in, including this film. She’s absolutely perfect in this role and I couldn’t have asked for a better actor to portray this particular character.

Brian De Palma is a direct I’m not too familiar with, I know a few of his big films, but that’s about it. This film alone made me want to check out his other work, that’s how good this was. 

I will definitely be rewatching this again, who knows, maybe next time it could go up to 5 stars…
