i don’t think i’ve been this overjoyed after watching a movie since the first time i saw fire walk with me, so insanely perfect and so incredibly up my alley: from the plot, to the visuals and ambience, all the way down to the general atmosphere. huge fan of lesbian covens, green forehead goop, candle wax, castration, alien dicks (?) and death by fisting (delighted to find out that this is even an option). soooo enchanting and sleazy and gross, can’t believe its been hiding from me for so long! i love it when women get their revenge!
it has some unpleasant scenes that were tough for me to sit through, but it never felt scummy or exploitative and never lasted long enough for me to feel the need to shut it off, which is something that i found to be rather shocking. when it comes to low budget splatter-inspired flicks, i’m always expecting the worst and then ultimately receive it.
i’m pretty new to SOV horror, with this being the first feature length film that i’ve seen that isn’t strictly erotica. i haven’t avoided it by any means, i just haven’t paid it much mind and chose to find other things to watch instead whenever the opportunity arose. can safely say that i’ll be chasing the high this gave me and diving more deeply into the genre in the coming weeks!!!!!
definitely not for everybody, but i do encourage everyone to give stuff like this a shot, even if you think you won’t like it. i think it’s important to consume art that challenges you, it helps you grow (and you might even like it)!
