Los Angeles, 2006. Life is Easy 2.0 for James Pongo. He has a cushy job, a busy social life and an alluring love interest all through the click of a mouse. But when he wakes up after a night of reckless partying to discover that his computer is missing, James' hyper-connected reality takes a nosedive. Told entirely through the websites, programs, games and social networks, 0s & 1s uses James Pongo's nihilistic adventure to question our growing dependency on these alternate digital realities.

Such a Perfect Movie to include an audio commentary. The charisma between everyone that went into making this and the chaos behind getting it done is amazing. Hand made digital visualization creates a personalized technological world. Applications and programs flooding your brain with so much information you don’t know what to do with. Sometimes you just need to slow down. The concept of an operating system being the visual language has become a signature style in Eugene Kotlyarenko’s films. It is prominately brought back later in the movie “Spree (2020)” and again in “The Code (2024)” Showcasing the obsession of a generational culture with a personal approach.

“I’m no stranger to a fucked up situation”
The editing and visuals are absolutely incredible theres no doubt about that. I came into this blind and at the start it was very overwhelming for me, but quickly got used to and appreciated it towards the end.

This has aged so well, becoming a nostalgic time capsule of the rapidly developing internet. As soon as I saw that 3D gradient text I knew i’d love this.
