Some decent shots on display, but at the end of the day what’s on display here is just fine. It feels like it’s reheating first reformed nachos in a not so original or interesting way. I feel like this is something that my grandma would tell me her pastor inspired her to watch. The torment scenes are really cool here and I did like those, but that’s really it. Also Shai does NOT give a memorable or very great performance here at all. Not bad just by far my least favorite Ferrara.

I really wanted this to be better than it was. I knew it had low reviews but that still didn't deter my anticipation to watch. But after finally getting around to it, I have to come to grips that it was all over the place and sometimes a mess.
I think one of the strongest aspects of the film is definitely the cinematography. Full of a mixture of quick panning, shaky camera work, and some incredible shots. A lot of it was very unsettling, in a good way.
I cannot help but praise Shia Lebouf here for his performance. Every moment he graced the screen you cannot help but lock back into the film. You can tell he put his heart, soul and I think most importantly, his faith into this performance. It was incredible and I commend him.
But the real problem with this film is it is tonally all over the place and felt like I was watching 2 completely different films. There was so much going on that it was hard to follow and took me completely out of the film.
It was not awful but man it could have been so much more.

Man Ferrara has moved so far away from what I liked from him at the start of this month. There's some good looking scenes here and I'm happy that he is making something I'm sure he's passionate about. That said I couldn't get into it. The constant narration was so boring. I had a hard time caring for this movie
