Unironically this is the greatest movie Criterion have ever released. Kurage-bo is so awesome, it’s very fun, the cast is really good, with Eihi Shiina, Takumi Saito and way more, the cinematography is great, the plot is literally insane, the creature design is amazing and overall this film is GOATED!

Why is this in The criterion collection is what I was asking my self for this whole film it makes no sense there is nothing in this film that feels like it belongs in the collection and this is not even a good film. With this film I can see what the director was trying to do but it just wasn’t used to it fullest potential and that makes me so disappointed because I can feel passion in this but the passion is barely explored and that sucks because I think I would have loved this if the passion was explored but instead we got this film that has some bad visuals effects that aren’t to hard to do but if they put time in them like with Godzilla minus one and I understand this only had a budget of only 7 million but Godzilla minus one only had only a little more then double the budget and that film looks perfect and Godzilla is so detailed but the creatures in this film aren’t so detail so I feel like if they spent time fixing the visual effects instead of rushing them it would have looked way better. The story in this film was all over the place for me and The pacing did not help. They make the story so more confusing for me because sometimes we are taking or times but then at other times we are going by so quickly. The things that make this a 2 1/2 star film is the characters and the chemistry i actually thought it the best part of this film and the child actors did a great with acting with nothing they really help me believe that these creatures are real and the chemistry is actually really good for child actors and I did not expect that and it really helps the film. But overall I don’t think this should have never been in the criterion collection and thank god we didn’t get that sequel.

was sooo willing to give this movie a lot more grace than other people were doing because it’s made for kids but then there was a whole plot point about an anime girl trying to kill actual real children and i basically lost it after that
