This is a total hidden gem. It’s a masterclass in tension that kept me on my toes from start to finish. Van Heflin is incredible at playing a guy who is simultaneously pathetic and terrifying, and the way the suspense just keeps ratcheting up in that desert finale is top-tier noir. They really don't make them like this anymore.
