“Texas, Addio” is a pretty run-of-the-mill italo western that tries to be as cool as “Django”, released the same year, but never comes close.
The opening is absolutely fantastic. I love its style and the song is beautiful. After that, the film slowly but surely becomes weaker and weaker. Franco Nero’s performance is good, not as good as his Django but still, and there are some nice shootouts and nice scenery, but over all there are very few highlights or moments that are memorable. The plot is your typical revenge story that isn’t intriguing or interesting enough to fully convince and neither the protagonist not the antagonists have enough character for them to be really interesting.
It’s certainly watchable and entertaining enough, but nothing special.
