Unless we stop it. Unless you stop it.
First impressions:The mere scope and size of human destruction always shakes me. It’s hard not to be filled with rage, sadness, unease and despair when finishing this story.
More in depth:I’ve seen many documentaries that stirred emotion, but this one truly stands apart. The human resilience it took to tell this story, the staggering scale of corruption, and the urgent call to action all hit with incredible weight. As humans, we often see ourselves as something “other” than animals—and that mindset has paved a path of destruction, leading to the suffering and death of countless innocent lives. This film forces you to reckon with that. The problems I have with it does stem from the depiction of “Japan” and not “This particular set of corrupt individuals”. Also the documentary does take a lot of grey space out and paints in broad strokes. Overall I do believe there’s something here though that makes it a stand out and a must watch.
