I don’t get it

Half stars because wtf is going on with these ghosts! Is this Christian propaganda or is Kevin Costner shepherding souls to the afterlife like a corny ass grim reaper? Whose voice was in the corn? Does the bank accept big piles of cash to cancel out bankruptcy? How are they going to explain Kev’s brother in law’s dead body to this crowd of random fans after he nearly killed his own niece?? Lots of questions about the rules, but I still got choked up somewhere in the middle of the lunacy 😂 it says a lot that I wasn’t brought to actual tears, because everything makes me cry, but still decent and I get the appeal. Still better than Moneyball! Close Encounters but for baseball? 

Incredible score, and holy shit that stuff with the doctor at the end… lots to enjoy, if only between moments of shock or confusion. Soft recommend if you want to dwell on the mortality of a parent or whatever.

who would’ve thought a movie about baseball would make me feel so much happiness? field of dreams is just a dream-like story about a father who wished he had spent more time with his own father growing up, he is on a journey of self discovery at the same time without him even knowing it.

james earl jones’ performance was outstanding, the way he portrayed terence mann with such passion and charisma made me smile. the script writing from phil alden robinson (majorly inspired and based from the 1982 novel ‘shoeless joe’ by canadian author w. p. kinsella which is insane) was just beautiful. i loved seeing frank whaley too, he is so sweet but i can only ever see him as arvid in ‘swing kids’. i for one am a major kevin costner lover and i thought he played ray kinsella beautifully. i never normally read but i would be willing to read the novel.

the movie in itself is certainly easy to watch and extremely heartwarming, it was just what i needed in the early hours of a sunday morning. this (of course) was a film that my dad recommended me to watch years ago and i had never gotten round to it until today, i’m so lucky to have the dad that i have: i wouldn’t change it for the world.

there is also something about ray liotta that always brings a smile to my face, he is certainly missed by a lot of people: rest in peace. 🕊️
