This was my introduction to Ryan Trecartin and I’m really glad I watched it because this movie is totally my vibe. I watched Www.rachelorment.com with my friend a month ago and we talk about it all the time, but mostly it’s just us quoting it out of context, but a little bit ago we were talking about the future of cinema and how we both hoped it would look like that film, but we both thought about how we had never seen a film that was like it at all. That was until I saw this movie that came out 11 years before. The fact that this movie can articulate everything it did about technology and especially social media is crazy. Not to mention this movie came out before TikTok even had any fame. I think the characters being shown as fake and fluid really added on to the modern critique of social media and how it causes people to be fake versions of themselves. I love how everyone is yelling or acting like they’re acting which emphasizes the entire point of the film. Also this movie is just so great to look at it’s so grimy and disgusting while being beautiful at the same time. Not to mention this is only 53 minutes and the only critique I really had with the movie is the length. I wish the film was longer because of just the amount of fun I had watching this. Everyone should check this out especially now this film defines relevant cinema.
