i went into this movie thinking “how could a movie with real animals as actors be good?”

and i absolutely saw how. 
The Bear (1988) is the Lion King live action movie if it was good. Not only are the animal actors in this movie fantastic, but the characters they play are great too. Yoak the Bear had his mother killed, but he was supported by one of the greatest characters in cinema history. Bart The Bear.

Not only does this character act as a mentor to Yoak, he also shows real empathy towards humans and realizes what the right thing to do is. He is who Mufasa thinks he is. Man, I could go on about this character all day. But we have to talk about the stunning visuals of this movie.

Let me remind you, this movie was made in 1988, so why are the visuals so good? the color grading was phenomenal, and the location of filming was perfectly selected. The human characters in this movie weren’t bad, the curly haired ginger was easily the best one. He and Bart embody the message of the movie.

I personally found the movie to be boring and even uncomfortable to watch at times, despite the short runtime of only 1h 36m, it felt far longer than it should have and frankly, an animal film with zero dialogue is just plain uninteresting, the only reason I won’t rate this film lower is due to the fact I can see the appeal of this movie for some people and that this does fill a specific niche that I unfortunately do not fit in, overall, I don’t reccomend this film if you are looking for any exciting and exhilarating action
