My first Estonian movie
I have no knowledge of this war at all but I feel this film rlly shows the hatred the two sides have for one another well.
Ahmed and Nikas very slow accepting of one another is the best part of this film. From both starting out with a mass hatred for one another and then apologising for killing their freinds is rlly beautiful. The harrowing end shattered that though to remind us we’re in a war film.
The acting is just solid overall the 4 characters work well with one another.
The start is a bit empty but once the two soldiers begin to realise they’re enemies next door it gets good.
The more intense scenes are done well with one coming completely out of nowhere which shocked me a lot.
The more philosophical scenes like Margus’ tangerines are nice and smart.
Nice lighting and good design of the area as it does look like a historic area which has stayed that way despite being in the 90s.
But the short runtime does kinda hinder it would’ve been nice to get a lot more tension between Ahmed and Nika.
But for my first Estonian film very pleased
