Easily the most interesting of the Cremaster Cycle films so far. The combination of the surreal and fantastical elements of Cremaster 1 and the more structural elements of Cremaster 2 leads to a more interesting artistic conversation in regards to the myth of America and the place of architecture within culture. The horror of the consumptive mind as represented by the skyscrapers, the cold, sterile spaces with strange organic forms within them begs the question of whether or not this is the natural trajectory of life, especially when compared to the strange lil’ guy of the film’s opening and closing.
