i think i have to wait to rate these until i’ve seen all 5

some criticize matthew barney’s episodic magnum opus for being pretentious pseudo-artistic overindulgent slop, but i personally think it’s too weird to be masturbatory. although gross, i think it’s inescapably so due to the obvious subject matter (balls).

this was made for me honestly. pink tap dancer goat man falls into the ocean and (gets birthed?) while two (balls)-ridden drivers race around the isle of man? sign me up.

ending was a bit weird though
didn’t want to see that

also why was i on reddit for an hour trying to find this just for it to be on internet archive….

Casual Tuesday easy watching

The imagery and all the elements come together in a fairly enthralling sense—despite the nature of the art, the chaos doesn't feel haphazard or distracting. It is convincingly intentional. My favorite was the race cars—the atmosphere was brilliant. The Isle of Man and the Manx triskelion work. I believe it introduces The Cremaster Cycle well, even though I haven't seen the rest of the films yet. I am definitely looking forward to seeing them. Also, rating these feels counterintuitive, but I don't think it matters.
