The first time I watched this I hated it, the second time it definitely grew on me a lot but I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite thing. I understand the abstract art of Tarantino and understand he’s not a polished or traditional director and he pulls much of his ideas from other movies but sometimes his films are just a bit too goofy at times. This is a good example of this and I especially want to point out the sword and knife sound effects. They are so over exaggerated it started to piss me off. That is like the one huge flaw I have with this movie, the other stuff is more trivial like how the movie switches music left and right. Now there’s a lot of good in this movie, I love the dialogue and the action sequences are good, a little over the top with the blood, also if literally anyone had a gun, that fight would’ve been over so quick. I though the anime backstory part was really cool. The characters are very interesting and fleshed out, you really do feel the emotions in the fight. I liked it overall but it’s not my favorite when it came to the sound editing. I’d watch it again though. Okinawa mentioned!!! I live there!!!
