season 1
it’s been over a year since i’ve decided to really commit to watching a full tv show* & for some reason i thought a show with 11 seasons was a good idea. thats not to say this was a bad season of television, really the opposite!! its just crazy to go from glee, a 5 & 1/2 seasons long show about teenagers singing and dancing, to a series with almost 200 episodes about zombies ripping people apart.
i did try to start the bear* but it’s not really clicking with me. i watched the first two seasons, and the first season was really great but i have no desire to finish the series right now. maybe when the 5th/final season releases, but TWD is a long ahh show and i’d like to get at least a quarter through that show before starting up another again
i’m watching this show with my mom, who watched most of the seasons (1-7??) while they were airing before losing interest closer to the end, and then watched the final season while it was airing. i, however, was a bit over two months old when the first episode aired so it’s safe to say that i wasn’t concerned about the zombie show. but now i am!!
anyway this was a very short season that i could finish in one sitting. but what it lacks in length it exceeds in substance. i used to not really get the phrase “on the edge of my seat” until the end of the first episode. this is such a crazily great way to start a show but i’ve heard a whole lot of “this show will start sucking after season 6” which makes me scared but idk yolo??
also i didn’t know that specifically in this first season the zombies are kinda smart?? or at least smarter than later season walkers. picking up items, running, etc. just not what i was expecting. still not as smart as korean zombies like in train to busan and all of us are dead but they might be a little scarier. but only season 1 TWD walkers though. just watching clips of later season walkers are much more tame. they have their moments but they’re nothing compared to this first season. don’t open, dead inside.
this season gets a 9 out of 10 walker bites. i have a few minor gripes but this is a near perfect season of television.. hopefully before i finish the entire series letterboxd will add tv shows 🙏🙏
