Certainly has its moments and Carole Lombard is a joy to watch, but screwball comedy is clearly not Hitchcock's strong suit with this being oddly slow and lacking energy. Though it was nice seeing a ton of familiar faces in small parts. I literally cheered "Pepi!" when William Tracy was on screen.

Not vintage Hitchcock - it’s only a partially successful attempt at a screwball romantic comedy. They need to be pristine and tight, and this one meanders and also fails to take advantage of its premise. That said the beginning is very strong and its generally sweet.

I am finding out that while Hitchcock is one of the best director of all time, and his mysteries, thrillers, and Romance are legendary and impactful, some of his work just does not hold up anymore. Mr. and Mrs, Smith is a great example of this, as I feel like it is really outdated with its character tropes and storytelling. Just going to have to tuck this away as one of Hitchcocks lower rated works.
