The second I thought this film won't be upto it's mark , it showed me it's true colours. In that last second trial, I witnessed absolute peak acting and still I am thinking about that scene.

In the past week I've been doing some research on South Korea's politics and the latest elections; one thing about them, that I feel the need to highlight, is the fact that 84.8% of Gwangju citizens voted for the Democratic Party (liberal), and that is because they will never forget. They'll never forget that, from the 18th to the 27th of may 1980, the military dictatorship took the lives of countless university students who were protesting. They know what the PPP party is able to accomplish, and it should never be allowed to happen again.

Because not long ago I watched A Taxi Driver (2017), I immediately recognized the importance of this story too, based on Roh Moohyun's real story (main character played again by the incredible Song Kangho)
Heart-wrenching and extremely unsettling, the acting of Yim Siwan made my heart break into a million pieces.
He's one of the best people on this planet (to me) and seeing him play this character made me sick to my stomach (especially since real people had to endure that kind of torture.)
I couldn't stand seeing him like that, I read he stated that he had to lose weight down to 49kg in order to deliver this unbelievable performance.
Park Jinwoo.. justice should've been served.

The ending reflects the real story: how a person, no matter what background they come from, can start a change that a lot of people will then firmly agree with, follow and support.

This is an amazing movie.
And, as a person who loves movies and series that take place in a court (easy examples include Juvenile Justice and Extraordinary Attorney Woo) and watches a lot of true crime stories (that include the trial of the culprit), this made me feel a fire growing inside my chest.
Being an attorney will probably always be my impossible dream.

(I wonder if the director chose the main character’s name because it’s also his. Yeah, that’s definitely why.)
