Pretty fun small-town-mystery-esque horror.
Acting is fairly good all the way through, maybe some weak points by smaller characters, but who cares? The story is interesting enough, with a sort of "Body Snatchers" vibe that leans more towards horror/occult than sci-fi. The effects are quite good as well, some gnarly deaths here. There's a bit of a whodunit as well, but it's really just between two characters (I will say they did a good job still of keeping it a surprise to which it was).
I don't necessarily want to use the word 'bad' for this section, but there were definitely some things that stood out as ? moments. I won't spoil anything, but what I'll refer to as the eyeball scene just felt pretty dumb with how easy it was. Additionally, the little secret that was revealed in the final moments doesn't make very much sense when you stop and think about it. While watching, it's like "ooooo how cool is that" but then you realize it really doesn't make much sense. These issues don't fully distract from the cool film this was, but they certainly don't help.
Cool little flick worth checking out if you are into '80s horror that isn't your run-of-the-mill slasher.
