The inciting incident between Ford and Arthur’s first meeting in Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is expounded upon here. I jest, but the idea of aliens mistaking cars as the dominant life form is still funny as hell to me, especially in the modern era where not only has car production not slowed down at all whatsoever, but more and more cities get bulldozed and restructured every single year to better serve vehicles over people. The visual satire is strong, expressing this in faux-documentary style as if this were being produced for an outer-space audience. It’s a great example of how animation is just so much better at abstraction
