the way Chantal Akerman creates documentaries is something I really love. I've seen ‘News from Home’, ‘From the East’, and ‘No Home Movie’ before, and they're all unique in their own way. ‘One day Pina Asked...’ stands out from the rest as it is, to my knowledge, her only documentary work that does not focus on her worldview and is not presented from the perspective of a director. I discovered after watching this film that it was commissioned by European television for a series on modern dance. for a commercial project, it is both authentic and perfectly reflects Akerman's style. > my dancing knowledge is limited, and I must admit that I didn't know who Pina Bausch was before watching. I judge biographical films according to my desire to learn more about the person they portray, particularly when they are about someone I am not familiar with. and It could be very interesting to learn more about Pina's dance style and creative path. the energy of her dancing and conveying what's happening behind the scenes of her performances is what Akerman's work focuses on. It's like she's letting you in on a little secret in this whole dance world, and i I definitely like it. also, It's important for me to mention how some of the dance troupe's performances here and the choreographic scenes' filming reminded me a lot of ‘Out 1’
