I'm going to watch the 1986 version of Little Shop of Horrors tomorrow in the cinema for its 40th anniversary, so I decided to check out the original film first. A funny story: a couple of months ago, I received several DVDs from a relative, and one of them was The Little Shop of Horrors. The next day, I put the disc into the player and was greeted with a tattered, grainy, black-and-white film of the same name. At the time, I had no idea there was an earlier version. However, this turned out to be beneficial because now I get to experience the 1986 version for the first time on the big screen rather than on a poor-quality DVD. As for the original film, it’s surprisingly entertaining and probably quite disturbing for audiences in 1960. Interestingly, this movie features one of Jack Nicholson's earliest roles, despite him having only five minutes of screen time. People sometimes refer to it as "The Little Shop of Horrors with Jack Nicholson.” Overall, it’s an enjoyable film considering its short runtime. Recommended.

I used to watch this movie multiple times a day for like a month and upon rewatching it I don't know why I ever stopped.
This movie is incredibly good.
Every character has some little quirk that makes it a wonderful little world were everyone is some weirdo who's simultaneously weirded out by the other characters odditys.
Mel wells absolutely steals the show as Gravis Mushnick,there is no competition. From his Zany line deliverys to every little maneriem he does.
An underrated performance would be that of John Herman Shaner who comes in as Doctor Phebous Farb and has amazing camera presence,I named my cat Phoebe after his character and bought his play "after crystal night" haha.
Truly a fantastic movie,I am notably obsessed with little shop of horrors and have a extensive knowledge on the subject.

For a 1960 film, this is so funny! If you're a fan of the 1986 version, I'd recommend this one as well. I personally still like the musical better, but there were a lot of memorable gags included in this move
