An amazing film that reflects and points out issues in American politics and meditates on the black American experience using music and poetry. This is genuinely one of the most interesting films that I have ever scene that takes advantage of its uniqueness to embrace the fluidity of poetry. I would be an idiot if I said it was surprisingly relevant today because despite most of the topics and critiques still holding weight, it's no surprise and they tell you that. This is an amazing documentary/ movie/ art/ story telling medium in general, that should be seen by anyone at any time.

Can’t remember when exactly I saw this but it was on 35 at the local art house and had been recommended by a professor of mine. It was fine. He was a good poet and an interesting artist. His lasting cultural claims are as the progenitor of rap and the man who coined that phrase about the revolution not being on your TV.
