Shoutout to my good friend @Hsun3 for putting me onto this delightful little indie film. Napoleon Dynamite is one of my favorite films of all time and this hits a lot of same notes with the awkward young characters and subdued performances. I enjoyed Marcello Conte as Rad Miracle, but my favorite character was definitely Myles Massey as Teddy, who stole every scene he was in. But I particularly loved the over the top and down right homoerotic relationship between the two bullies, Lyle and Dale. Ping Pong summer has a an undeniably inviting atmosphere with a cozy summer setting that brings you back to your childhood and an energetic score with hip hop influences. I’d definitely recommend checking this out if you haven’t.
