so heartfelt, intimate, innocent and devastating…
i am always impressed with how good kore-eda is at capturing family life, the writing is mostly simple but so immaculate. the characters are just so damn realistic and oh my god i love ryota and chinami, whos weirdly a LOT like my aunt in real life? i swear i felt like if my aunt was japanese she would be that woman, but anyway these characters are amazing. his films certainly dont make me ugly cry but i always feel like im on the verge, sad, and happy. its amazing how he tackles themes like loss and grief without losing a sense of beauty which simply said, is life.
the camera almost doesnt move at all in this and i think that is so incredibly fitting for this type of movie. im so excited to see more of his work. films are amazing, life is amazing and guys please tell your family you love them while you still can..
