Impressively ahead of its time - the ending feels sudden but sobering realistic. In my head though he goes back and helps raise the kid - while the mother leaves, but unfortunately that’s not how it probably went.

Also kind of fascinated by the roving gangs of children the UK seems to have in all their films.
