I think this is one of the few adaptations that manages to capture the gothic atmosphere and Heathcliff's intensity faithfully. Furthermore, unlike many other films, this one follows also the second part of the novel and has a choice of actors that's actually great. I think the decision to have Catherine and Chaty played by the same actress is brilliant.
The only things I didn't really appreciate much were the marginalization of Nelly's role and how the movie itself felt a bit rushed.
But other than that, this adaptation has my heart.

after the 2026 release i had to go back to the roots and wow ralph fiennes, the actor you are! he is amazing in every role. this adaptation is not the best one but it’s still FAR better than fennell’s. i love how much dialogue they took from the book! however, they should’ve had a younger actor play teen heathcliff rather than fiennes who ends up playing the younger and older version. i don’t mind this adaptation and think the performances were phenomenal!
