Hooptoper 12: #7/34
There’s some wonderful use of shadows and lighting here, but I couldn’t reconcile the eerie atmosphere with the very silly demon design. It felt like the kind of thing I would have expected in a schlocky 80s B movie but it’s all played very straight here which came across mismatched.
Not my favourite Tourneur, but I’ll always be a sucker for a film about demon worshipping cults!
