Simply put this is the most beautifully sadistic movie I’ve seen. How can one man be a maniac abuser and expect her own daughter to walk down some righteous path like she’s an angel? Sorry man it just doesn’t work like that. At least I appreciate him for realizing that as the movie come goes forward, like she’s the result of your actions so he owns up to it. The daughter and fatherly bond is still quite strong for him to go through all that and still wants to see her after all that time. Its symbolic and damn near sad to honest. I reallyyyyy love Nakashima’s edit style for this movie too (I got my first taste of it with Kamekaze girls). Being so fast paced when it needs to and slows down for all the soft moments really makes you close in, focus and keep attention to what they really have to say.
