31 Days of HorrorDay 8: I Spit On Your Grave

I’d like to start by saying I do not recommend this movie, and I don’t like this movie.

There has quite literally never been a time I haven’t watched the entirety of a film that I have started, but this movie nearly became a new landmark for me in that regard. This isn’t to say rape has never been shown on screen, I know it has, but it certainly has its place, as well as its execution. I’m not going to ramble on about how to direct a rape scene because that’s just fucking weird; however, off the top of my head, I know you don’t need three different scenes back to back to back (spanning over 40 minutes), to convey the point, and appeal to the audiences emotions. This shouldn’t have had an exploitation element in it at all, sadly the director did not put us into the victims perspective, we were stuck watching her body. The last thing on our leads mind. While i’m not totally against the rape-revenge genre, I think there needs to be a lot more respect and consideration involved. I want to say that this movie just absolutely sucked, but I have NEVER been more satisfied than when these fucks got murdered.
