There was a lot to like in Imperial Dreams. Intriguing and attractive cinematography, good dialogue, good performances, and a general sense of honesty to it all. The only issue for me is that when it ended, I was shocked it was the end. There's no real development in the story. I was left wanting more, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I felt more could be done. I'm sure this was intentional but it didn't feel like a story. Part of this could be to the film being just so impressively written and acted that it came off like it was just real life playing out and the audience observing. That's innovative, but for a film it's not the best approach.
Nonetheless, I loved Imperial Dreams. It wasn't just enjoyable, but it was legitimately impressive.
