Man, I love this movie, it’s got so much grit and endurance to it, yet it’s such a depressing film. It ends on such a beautiful yet emotional scene, it almost had me in tears. My dad is a big mountaineer and I always remember him talking about him and his buddy doing these crazy things. My dad never did anything like Everest but his buddy did summit Everest. This movie and the other adaptation of this tragedy, into thin air, always remind me of my dad so these movies are very sentimental to me. I remember reading the book by Beck Weathers and always see him as an asshole. He blames the whole thing on Rob Hall which to me is pretty fucked up. Beck is known for being a prick as well so it does always kind of hurt when they paint him as the good guy. Anyways it’s a great movie, I love watching disasters and tragedies and this one combined them both for a very sad yet exhilarating movie. It’s a great film, I definitely will watch again.
