2nd Wu Tianming film, and I must say he is the most underappreciated director, at least in Chinese or even Asian cinema.
Being similar in theme and setting to one of my favorite films, "Farewell My Concubine" and having watched his film "Old Well" I thought I would like this. But I loved it! While not as Epic, historical, and theatrical as "Farewell My Concubine", it swaps it out with, compassion and heartfelt drama. This deals much more with the relationships and troubles of an old man, wanting to continue his legacy.
Now I need this in like 4K. Might give it 5/5 down the line
