I remember watching Bahubali for the first time and being so confused the whole way through; it's definitely gotten a lot better after rewatching it through the years, though. The CGI is a little janky in some areas, and to be honest there are corny scenes and dialogue here and there. But the cast do an amazing job, especially Ramya Krishnan, Nassar and Rana, and the costumes and sets are absolutely stunning. If you're looking to watch more from Tollywood, give this a go.

So many things to say. 

The female lead being this warrior and the leader of her pack to some extent, to her then being a fragile, hopeless damsel in distress. And that horrific first song she had with the main lead where he strips her down and she suddenly finds herself appealing now that she is beautiful in the ‘male gaze’ ???? Who was in that writing room?! 

The plot was not engaging to say the least. The romance plot made me sick. Also the fact that her skin was lightened in the scenes where they were portraying her as attractive had me questioning my use of time. 

And about that god awful flashback sequence. Why were the opposing army all painted black and dressed like hooligans…? I don’t see how anyone could sit through that and not be rubbed the wrong way. Maybe I’m looking at that from a certain light that they weren’t aiming for but still I’m suspicious. 

I nearly fell asleep so many times, if I wasn’t watching with a friend, this movie would have been stopped in the first 20 minutes.
