BUSTER KEATON & JUDY GARLAND IN A TEACHNICOLOUR MUSICAL??!1?1! this is the first time (i think) i’ve ever seen buster in colour & i feel shaken everytime he’s on screen, it just doesn’t feel right😭😭 i sorta feel like i should look away everytime he appears.. anyways i expected this to be similar to The Shop Around the Corner of course but i do love the 1940s version more, it has a special place in my heart!
also, i found out about this movie through a yt short & it was basically talking about how nobody else could pull off that violin gag except for buster! even though he struggled to keep up with talkies during the transition, this proves that he could’ve made it! people just expected too much from him i think 🙁 the fact that around the time this picture came out he was working as a gag writer makes me sorta sad
