1998 | Stephen King | Children of the Corn
Directed by Ethan Wiley, who did the wonderful “House II: The Second Story”, this is another standalone entry in the franchise. Injected with a cast of teenagers, courtesy of the post-“Scream” teen-horror boom, this is a real bore.
The writing is once again terrible and the way they handle the characters backstories is absolutely laughable. This doesn’t have one interest directorial decision or good idea in the screenplay.
Ultimately, this is saved by one wonderful head-split towards the end, which is the only great thing about this. I think this is mildly more entertaining than the last film, but it’s pretty bad still.
