this is how you make a holocaust movie. i have no place to speak on this at all but the focus on the human, the struggle within the minds and hearts of the people who lived during this time, rather than inundating us with images of human suffering, makes for a much more engaging and heartbreaking film. i don't think i'll stop thinking about this for a long, long time.

nazi films are incredibly hard watches (like this one) however some actually create insightful conversations and enlightenment! instead of my devastating watch of life is beautiful (1997) this creates a harsher and more real perspective of the time period — we’re all paralyzed from the fear of power.

One of the most upsetting films I’ve ever watched. I’ve seen plenty of films about the holocaust and this time period but A Shop on Main Street hits even harder then most. The character of Rozaline being so unaware of what she is in the middle of makes for some of the most frustrating and depressing scenes to watch. I definitely see a lot of Schindler’s List similarities in this as well. 9.4/10
