I'm sure I watched this before, probably in high school or college, but as I sat down to rewatch this I honestly can't remember - which is strange because there are some powerfully arresting cinematography on display and Tom Cruise and Olive Stone completely sell the transformation of Ron Kovic, from a naive kid that's drank the patriotic American dream Kool-aid and enlisted to fight in Vietman to a completely disillusioned and disgruntled paralyzed vet. It goes a little too long and the end feels very anticlimactic (Hannah even blurted out, "That's the end?") but it's still an incredible film and makes me want to go back and watch more of Olive Stone's filmography, especially his Vietham films - Platoon I remember but I don't think I ever watched Heaven & Earth.
