Watched blind while my internet was out, so I'm logging this late.
Oh, it's like that, huh? You don't know the dimensions of the hallway, or they're constantly changing. Is it a hallway? It seems like it sometimes and at other times it doesn't. What's happening to our esteemed filmmaker/lead actor is unclear to both subject and observer, but it's painful and terrifying. The soundtrack is really good.
Early on, I think I'm starting to get the idea that it's never going to get less uncomfortable to watch. There's a certain sound in here that induces an immediate and visceral bodily reaction.
Something I love is the eroticism, the refused prayers, the dismemberment, the woman perching on a table ready to be killed or fucked or something, and how it all sparks the first fragments of memory for our hero, giving him a new sense of resolve and nearly even purpose, which is, obviously, reflected in the score. Him and the woman regard each other with something like kindness, but they're in so much pain that they can't seem to spare any warmth, at least not for a while. But there is deep love there. Of course, things turn out poorly for everybody involved. It fucking rules.
If they're not going to the suicide hell dimension with you, do they really love you?
"This must be a dream."
