An unemployed drifter, Eric Stanton wanders into a small California town and begins hanging around the local diner. While Eric falls for the lovely waitress Stella, he also begins romancing a quiet and well-to-do woman named June Mills. Since Stella isn't interested in Eric unless he has money, the lovelorn guy comes up with a scheme to win her over, and it involves June. Before long, murder works its way into this passionate love triangle.

Fallen Angel
Very basic and standard noir film for its time, but I like some of the shots in it and the set-up for who the killer is. Stella is an amazing character in this movie as well Amdrews brings a pretty good performance, but it is like previously stated a standard noir film from its time.

An actually underrated film noir tbh! Idk why this kept me so engrossed the whole time. I think the film noir aspects are perfect. It's this idea of this drifter, a good for nothing man who seems to have chaos surrounding him. Also add the sultry femme fatale who is a loose woman, only one fate awaits her, typical of the 1940s American film to be honest. And add the token pretty girl, the one who will sacrifice anything for her husband even if he's not worth it. It's clearly these tropes that help define the noir so much. Honestly there's such a BEAUTIFUL cinematography and the shadowy lighting makes it amazing. I think also a major reason why it was so good for me was because of the three main leads. I genuinely need to see more Alice Faye roles and although I dislike the sacrificing woman trope she still gave a heck of a performance and excels at the emotions for her character. Dana Andrews is actually a really good actor and he just suits these type of characters so much actually! Linda Darnell is so beautiful and stunning honestly I think she is so slept on, but she's so charming and witty in this yet seductive and sexy at the same time. She's amazing. Otto Preminger gave a good direction for this and the music and the jazz vibes are top notch!
