A very different experience to all the other movies I've watched. Highly symbolic and dealing with multiple themes like warfare, resurrection, guilt, forgiveness, suicide at once. The images of broken buildings, a city still suffering from the war, Darwish's experience of living in Palestine, poetry and cinema, the Adam and Eve reference, everything felt very much in place for a movie that is only 80 minutes long.

For such seemingly unresolvable subject matter there is such a Hope in this film in the power of images to communicate. 

Shot reverse shot. Images link realities together binding together what had previously been able to be separated the image blends forces together like a chemical process taking place where the original materials are forever permanently changed.

There is a terror in this yet Godard meets this terror with new methods and techniques to match and confront this reality. 

Godard shows clear as day that we still have yet to unlock the shot reverse shot, the match cut, the zoom, the pan, the tilt, and the dolly. While the world is undergoing such fundamental change Godard shows us our tools as artists are capable of the same. We can evolve our language, our art to meet this challenge.

Whether we are the victor or the defeated the poetry still blossoms into new forms even if a world of war is set before us.
